چکیده
This study provides information on the effects of fish grazing a seagrass bed that was dominated by Thalassia hemprichii in Guang-guang, Dahican, Mati City, Davao Oriental, Philippines. We tested assumption herbivore exclusion keeps growth shoots up to minimum length. Fish visual census used count abundance area during high tide at distance 5 m away from treatment cages with 15 transect Among all species, Siganus fuscescens most abundant (499) followed S. guttatus (153), while Thalassoma jansenii less (13). The result weekly showed highly significant variations number and species present (df = 11, MS 2.88, F 30.10, p < 0.001). Analysis shoot length measurement also exhibited differences throughout sampling period 726.71, 1,633.10, Comparison between initial final counts differences, higher full cage (X2 8, df 2, 0.018; FC > PC OP). raises clear evidence support positively influences T. this area.

متن کاملSeagrass Meadows Provide 3D Habitat for Reef Fish
For large fishes, seagrass canopies typically provide a relatively flat habitat on seabeds, but seagrasses in the genus Posidonia can provide additional habitat complexity by forming organic-rich deposits known as mats. Erosional processes can scour channels through the mats, resulting in the formation of escarpments with caves. Here we report that reef fishes, such as groupers, inhabit the cav...
متن کاملThe future of seagrass meadows
Seagrasses cover about 0.1–0.2% of the global ocean, and develop highly productive ecosystems which fulfil a key role in the coastal ecosystem. Widespread seagrass loss results from direct human impacts, including mechanical damage (by dredging, fishing, and anchoring), eutrophication, aquaculture, siltation, effects of coastal constructions, and food web alterations; and indirect human impacts...
